Caroline Greene-Parfery
ADCRG
Caroline started dancing at the young age of 4 with the McLaughlin School in Glasgow.
In 1985 Caroline became the first Scottish dancer to win the World Championships for Solo dancing and then went on to win a total of 5 World Championships. Caroline won an array of what is classed as the Grand Slam titles, in total 8 Great Britains, 4 All Irelands, 4 British Nationals, the All England (which took place before the British Nationals came about) and the North American Championships along with hundreds of local, regional and national Championships.
Through Caroline's competitive career, she toured extensively with the Chieftains performing in Spain, Germany, France and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
After Caroline hung up her shoes from competitive solo and team dancing she received a call from “Lord of the Dance” requesting she join the original dance troupe without the need to audition. After consideration and the support of her then fiancé Grant along with her family Caroline went off to join "Lord of the Dance" where she toured extensively around Australia, America, and Britain and even performed at the Oscars.
Caroline left the troupe to start enjoying married life however returned to the troupe for the “one off” show, Feet of Flames, performed in Hyde Park, London.
Since giving up dancing in the limelight Caroline decided to open her own school of dancing “Caroline Greene School of Irish Dancing”. Through her own experiences and her excellent talent for being innovative she has helped produce some of the highest performers of Irish Dancing in Scotland.
Michelle Greene
TCRG
Michelle started dancing at the tender age of 4 & ½ following in the footsteps of her 4 older sisters attending the McLaughlin school of dancing. From an early age she portrayed a natural flair for dancing and won her first championship at age 8, being the Under 9 Scottish Qualifying Champion.
Throughout her 14 year dancing career Michelle went on to win many Local, Regional and National Championships which included being a solo world medal holder for most of her dancing years having placed 12th in her 1st ever World Championships in 1981 and twice placing a respectable 6th during a time when competitions where for double age groups.
The success Michelle had as a solo competitor assisted in her success as a team member. She has been part of a winning team at numerous World Championships in ceili & figure teams, both girls and mixed. In total Michelle has over 25 World Medals the majority of team medals are gold having won first place.
Michelle retired from competitive dancing in 1989 concentrating on her working career, although for many years continued to be on the outskirts of the Irish Dancing scene as Caroline continued to compete and tour with many groups and troupes. Michelle was basically a Caroline Greene groupie, although she will deny this. lol. Well who wouldn’t be proud of a sister who achieved so much.
Michelle has been an integral part of the school and the success that has been achieved since day 1 when the Caroline Greene School of Irish Dancing was set up. After teaching children the basics of their jump two threes to teaching them their first trebles, Michelle finally admitted that dancing was deep in her heart and had in fact never truly left her. In 2006 Michelle sat and passed her TCRG exam becoming a fully fledged teacher in her own right.
Both Caroline & Michelle are very passionate about Irish dancing. Their differing styles which fully compliment one another are shown in the results children have achieved to date. They take great pride in passing on their expertise and experience to all children in the school. Their enthusiasm and desire for each child to achieve their full potential is second to none.
